Outstanding Achievement
Awarded a 90% scholarship from VinUni
Do Ba Huong Tra’s journey to conquering the Dean’s Distinction Scholarship from Vin University - covering 90% of her tuition fees and valued at over VND 2.9 billion - stands as an inspiring testament to youth ambition and dream-chasing.
Securing a Prestigious Scholarship
In this year's scholarship admission cycle, Do Ba Huong Tra (a student of Class 12G1, Global Citizen Bilingual Program at Greenfield School Ecopark Campus) successfully navigated a rigorous selection process to win the prestigious Dean’s Distinction Scholarship from VinUniversity (VinUni).
The scholarship covers 90% of her tuition fees, equivalent to over VND 2.9 billion for a four-year Bachelor's program in Multimedia Communications at the College of Arts and Sciences. This is the highest financial aid tier awarded by VinUni for this scholarship program. Remarkably, Huong Tra is the first student from Greenfield School Ecopark Campus to receive this top-tier honor from VinUni.
VinUni is Vietnam’s first private, non-profit, elite university, built with the goal of becoming a world-class institution through strategic partnerships with top Ivy League universities in the United States, including Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania. Boasting a 5-star standard campus and an educational environment that fosters creativity and interdisciplinary learning, VinUni is a hub for the nation's most outstanding students.
Against the backdrop of Vietnam's educational transformation towards deep global integration - where selection, training, and assessment standards increasingly align with international benchmarks - a student winning a high-value scholarship from VinUni carries a meaning that transcends personal achievement. It is a recognition of elite young minds and a testament to the nation’s efforts to cultivate a domestic talent ecosystem in a new era.
The core reason behind VinUni's highly competitive scholarship pool lies in its holistic and stringent candidate requirements, which look far beyond mere test scores. VinUni evaluates applicants based on the AACC framework: Outstanding Ability, Aspiration, Creativity, and Commitment. Therefore, Huong Tra’s selection perfectly mirrors the university's holistic approach to talent assessment.

An "Extraordinary" High School Portfolio
At Greenfield School, Huong Tra built a portfolio that rivaled that of many university graduates. She made a powerful statement with a near-perfect SAT score of 1590/1600, placing her in the top 1% of test-takers globally—an international benchmark reflecting advanced mathematical reasoning and logical analysis. This stellar score would comfortably secure her admission to top-tier universities across the US, UK, Australia, and Canada.
Huong Tra also achieved an overall IELTS score of 7.5 - a vital prerequisite for studying under leading American professors at VinUni. Furthermore, she maintained an enviable academic record, with a Grade 10 and 11 GPA of 9.6, and a Grade 12 GPA of 9.5. Her extracurricular achievements include winning First Prize in the school’s "Debate It!" competition for two consecutive years (2024 and 2025), and securing Second Prize in the "Greenfield Talks" public speaking contest in 2025.
Beyond academics, Huong Tra has been a highly active figure in extracurricular activities both inside and outside of school. She is a member of the Greenfield Volunteer Club and participated in "Fix My Food" - an initiative launched by UNICEF to promote healthier food environments for children across East Asia and the Pacific. She has also contributed to various projects organized by the Hanoi Student Association. Through these endeavors, she demonstrated to the admissions panel her passion and vision for pursuing a career in Multimedia Communications at VinUni.
In her application essay, Huong Tra spotlighted a personal project focused on rebranding her family’s traditional business - a venture that marked her growth in both organizational strategy and design thinking. She realized that traditional handcrafts do not lack intrinsic value; rather, they lack a strategic brand positioning and a visual identity capable of resonating with Gen Z.
The brand identity Huong Tra designed did more than just refresh aesthetics; it restored the inherent prestige and dignity of each traditional storefront sign and handicraft item. Through this project, she came to understand that communication is not mere decoration - it is an invisible architecture that shapes perception, where beauty truly gains value only when it connects with human psychology and cultural storytelling. Ultimately, her essay vividly expressed her ambitions and the contributions she hopes to make as a VinUni freshman.
Looking Ahead to the Future
At VinUni, exceptional grades and "blockbuster" achievements are valued, but they are not the sole metrics of success. The elite university’s selection process stands out through its face-to-face interview round, which serves as the ultimate crucible for revealing a candidate's true character, ambition, and resilience. Instead of giving in to nerves, Huong Tra maintained a composed and positive demeanor, projecting a vibrant energy to the interview panel.
Huong Tra’s conversation with the admissions committee lasted roughly 30 minutes. Rather than simply listing her achievements, she focused on how she had grown through her personal experiences. Throughout the interview, even when faced with challenging questions, she remained relaxed and confident.
Her hard work eventually culminated in the 90% scholarship offer. Recalling the moment she received the notification, Huong Tra could barely believe her eyes. "I read the email over and over again, then immediately informed my homeroom teacher and my family. I was absolutely thrilled and happy because I never expected to receive such a high scholarship," she recalled.
Behind Huong Tra's success is a long journey of relentless effort. Spending her entire 12-year K-12 education at Greenfield School, this choice opened up a distinctive academic pathway where she benefited from a personalized learning track, early research opportunities, and exposure to international academic standards. This solid foundation proved instrumental in helping her build a rare, deep-seated academic profile capable of conquering one of the country's most selective university scholarship programs.

Huong Tra’s 12-year journey at Greenfield School was defined not only by lessons and report cards, but also by profound mentorship and companionship. "To me, Greenfield School is a critical chapter of my life - it is my 'teenage dream' and a place I fondly call 'family'. It is this very family that has shaped the Huong Tra of today: resilient, brave, and ready to conquer a leading elite university."
Looking ahead, Huong Tra aims to work for major corporations within her field of passion. For the time being, she wants to spread a message of empowerment to her peers and younger students: "If not now, then when? Just give it a try, don’t procrastinate, and you will surely achieve what you want in the future."
From her early days as a first grader at Greenfield School, the young schoolgirl has now grown into a mature, confident individual, armed with knowledge, resilience, and a well-prepared toolkit for the global stage. May Huong Tra always carry the proud spirit of a Greenfield School student as she confidently steps forward to reach her dreams!
