Nguyen Dac Tam: Accepted into top universities without extra tutoring
Nguyen Dac Tam: Accepted into top universities without extra tutoring

Outstanding Achievement

  • Accepted to Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST): Information Technology (Global ICT) major and Information Technology: Computer Engineering major.
  • Accepted to University of Engineering and Technology (UET-VNU): Computer Science major.

Nguyen Dac Tam (Class 12A4, academic year 2024 – 2025, GFS Ecopark) recently received the good news of his simultaneous acceptance into the Information Technology (Global ICT) major and the Information Technology: Computer Engineering major at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) using the Think Assessment Test (TSA) scores.

Furthermore, he also achieved a "double win" by being admitted to the Computer Science major at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET-VNU) using the National High School Graduation Exam scores (subject combination A01 – Math, Physics, English with a total score of 26.25) combined with an IELTS certificate (7.0).

Being a natural science student, Dac Tam began planning his preparation for the Think Assessment Test early in the 12th grade year. Recognizing that the test structure was completely different from the high school graduation exam, he typically spent the day studying in class, and the evening self-studying online resources and practicing test papers to familiarize himself with the structure and question formats.

Dac Tam shared: "I didn't focus on quantity by solving countless practice papers; on average, I only practiced one paper per week, concentrating on Mathematical Thinking. After completing a paper, I would often think more deeply and solve it again. I believe there's no need for external tutoring; all that's required is to do well with what teachers lecture and guide in class and to thoroughly understand the core nature of the problem, then even extended problem types can be solved."

Regarding the Reading Comprehension and Scientific/Problem-Solving Thinking sections, Dac Tam said these were new contents. He honed his skills by reading useful information online, filtering and summarizing it to learn how to analyze and link information, as some points lacked clear evidence directly provided in the text.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy – Homeroom Teacher of Class 12A4 – is impressed with Dac Tam as a resilient student who always knows how to turn difficulties into motivation to progress. "No matter the subject, Tam is very solid in his studies; if he has any questions, he asks me immediately to understand the core nature of the problem. The achieved results are truly worthy of his determination and learning attitude," Ms. Thuy shared.

As a Mathematics teacher, Mr. Hoang Minh Dat assessed Dac Tam as proactive, self-motivated, and diligent in his studies. "Dac Tam not only has excellent academic capacity but is also very active in exchanging ideas, discussing, and helping other classmates. If he maintains this learning spirit, he will reach many more destinations," Mr. Dat said.

Leveraging his good English proficiency, Dac Tam decided to choose the Information Technology (Global ICT) major at Hanoi University of Science and Technology as his destination for the four years of university. This is the most internationalized advanced program among HUST's Information Technology majors and is taught entirely in English.

After six years at Greenfield School Ecopark, Dac Tam has now matured, carrying with him the knowledge, resilience, and thoroughly prepared groundwork from GFS to step into the wide-open world ahead. We wish him continuous happiness, success, and the fulfillment of his dream of becoming an intelligent system development engineer!
