Nguyen Huy Thai - New Cadet at the People's Security Academy and a Brave Career Turn
Nguyen Huy Thai - New Cadet at the People's Security Academy and a Brave Career Turn

Outstanding Achievement

  • Admitted to the Security Operations major at the People's Security Academy.

Originally planning to pursue a major in economics, Nguyen Huy Thai (Student of Class 12G2, academic year 2024 – 2025, Global Citizen Bilingual Program) surprisingly changed his direction to apply for the Public Security force. From that brave turn, in the 2025 university admission season, Huy Thai was admitted to the Security Operations major at the People's Security Academy (PSA).

According to statistics, in 2025, nearly 23,000 candidates nationwide registered to take the entrance exams for Public Security schools—the highest number ever. Meanwhile, the eight Public Security schools only recruit 2,350 cadets, with quotas allocated by school, region, major, target group, and admission method, resulting in an average "competition rate" of nearly 1 in 10.

Sharing about his career shift, Huy Thai said: "Previously, I had no intention of pursuing a career in the armed forces. When I was determined to set the People's Security Academy as my first choice, I thought about it a lot, as the standards to become a cadet at the Academy are not easy. With the guidance and encouragement of my family, I made every effort to turn my dream of wearing the uniform of the People's Public Security into a reality."

Huy Thai applied to the Security Operations major at the People's Security Academy using the method that combines an international foreign language certificate with the results of the Ministry of Public Security's Competency Assessment Test. Since he was studying in the Global Citizen Bilingual Program, he possessed an IELTS certificate early on. However, the Competency Assessment Test was a major challenge for him due to the difficult exam content.

To prepare for the Competency Assessment Test, in addition to revising general knowledge similar to the High School Graduation Exam, when the Ministry of Public Security released the sample assessment test in January, Huy Thai studied according to the structure and format of this specific exam. He chose the test code CA1 which covers Mathematics, History, Literature, English Language, and Physics.

To achieve efficiency in his studies and a high result on the Competency Assessment Test, Huy Thai said he focused on grasping the knowledge firmly and understanding the core nature of problems instead of rote memorization. In class, he absorbed the teachers' lectures. During his time off at home, he often went online to find additional materials to revise and solve past years' exam papers.

Speaking about her student, Ms. Truong Thi Ai Nhi, Homeroom Teacher of Class 12G2, shared: "Huy Thai is a well-behaved, respectful, and persistently determined student. He correctly identified his academic capabilities, and therefore, he always had a clear study plan for himself and the determination to achieve his set goals. This result is well-deserved for his resolve and attitude towards learning."

Currently, Huy Thai is preparing to join the initial training course at the Mobile Police Command (K02). Huy Thai realized that discipline is not about restricting oneself but about making oneself more confident and structured. This is what he has cultivated at Greenfield School over the years and is valuable preparation as he continues his training in a specialized environment like the People's Security Academy.

For the university journey ahead, we wish Huy Thai steady progress, soaring to great heights, and becoming an outstanding People's Public Security soldier to serve the nation and the people, with his intellect, bravery, and a heart that always shines brightly—just as he lived and grew up at Greenfield School.
