Valedictorian Tran Bao Tran and her dream of wearing the white blouse
Outstanding Achievement
School Valedictorian with a graduation GPA of 9.26
The school's B00 subject combination valedictorian with a total score of 28.75
With a stellar score of 28.75 in the B00 subject combination, Tran Bao Tran revealed that behind these "sparkling" numbers lies a journey of relentless effort to realize her dream of becoming a doctor.
In this year’s National High School Graduation Examination, Tran Bao Tran - a student of Class 12G2 from the Global Citizen Bilingual Pathway at Greenfield School (Ecopark Campus) - achieved an outstanding perfect 10 in Biology, 9.5 in Mathematics, 9.25 in Chemistry, and 8 in Literature.
These scores propelled her to the top of her school with a graduation GPA of 9.26 and made her the school’s B00 subject combination valedictorian with a total score of 28.75. This performance also earned her a spot in the province’s top 3 and the nation’s top 201 out of 500 highest-scoring B00 subject combination candidates.
"The Literature score was the biggest surprise for me. I only aimed for an average grade in this subject," Bao Tran shared. She explained that Literature was not her forte, nor did she spend much time cramming for it; her knowledge came entirely from classroom lectures.
Conversely, Bao Tran felt highly confident about her three major subjects in the B00 subject combination (Math, Chemistry, and Biology). She completed all three exams 10 to 15 minutes ahead of schedule, using the remaining time to double-check her answers. However, she expressed a slight regret regarding her Chemistry paper. "After finishing, I expected a 9.5 or higher, but looking at the final results, I made a few minor mistakes, so the score was slightly lower than anticipated."
Valedictorian Tran Bao Tran.
Since the 10th grade, Bao Tran had set her sights on the B00 subject combination to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor - a profession she finds fascinating and feels destined for. Throughout her three years of high school, her goal never wavered. It served as the ultimate destination that kept her motivated, driving her forward one step at a time every single day.
Bao Tran believes success is not a stroke of luck but the result of a long, dedicated journey. In her view, talent and effort go hand in hand. A student with strong logical thinking will eventually lose their edge without practice, whereas discipline and hard work are the key factors that sustain and develop that potential.
This philosophy has shaped Bao Tran’s unique approach to studying. During class, her top priority is to understand the core principles of every concept. Once home, she reviews the theory before tackling assignments. Whenever she makes a mistake, she re-solves the problem two or three times to memorize the error and understand the underlying logic.
Throughout her exam preparation, Bao Tran frequently used mind maps to systemize her knowledge. In Chemistry and Biology, while it took her five to six pages to map out and connect topics during the 11th grade, she managed to condense everything into just a single page by the 12th grade.
Notably, she keeps a dedicated notebook for each subject to meticulously log crucial knowledge points and common pitfalls. Spending an average of over 10 hours a day studying both at school and at home, she considers this a "necessary trade-off" for high academic performance. Nevertheless, she always tries to wrap up her work to maintain a bedtime before midnight.
Armed with her exceptional scores, Bao Tran plans to apply for the General Medicine program at Hanoi Medical University. This program is notorious for being the most competitive in the country, with acceptance rates hovering between 1 in 10 and 1 in 20. In addition to her national exam scores, she expects to receive a 1.5 - point bonus for her IELTS 8.0 certificate under the university’s admission criteria.
Commenting on her student, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, a Biology teacher at Greenfield School, described Bao Tran as an incredibly hardworking individual with a high sense of self-discipline and initiative. "During lessons, she was very confident, frequently discussing and asking questions to fully grasp the essence of the knowledge," Ms. Tam said.
Meanwhile, Ms. Doan Yen Ngoc, the homeroom teacher of Class 12G2, remarked that Bao Tran possesses a genuine passion for knowledge and always exerts her utmost effort to reach her goals. According to Ms. Ngoc, with her diligence, eagerness to learn, and the right educational environment, Bao Tran will have every opportunity to maximize her potential and go far in her academic pursuit.
Today's achievement is a well-deserved reward for Bao Tran's persistent efforts throughout her high school years. On this journey, Greenfield School has been a proud companion, equipping her with a solid English foundation and a comprehensive academic mindset.
Congratulations to Bao Tran on this outstanding success! The school wishes her unwavering resolve on her chosen path as she prepares to contribute to the medical field in the near future.
