Grade 11 students visit the "Ancient Village of Two Kings," immersing themselves in the soul of Vietnamese countryside

26/11/2024

Thousands of years of nation-building and defense have shaped and enriched Vietnam’s cultural heritage—an invaluable resource and a vital intrinsic strength of the nation. In the modern context, awakening and further promoting this precious heritage is essential, especially for the younger generation.

On today’s field trip, Grade 11 students embarked on a journey to Duong Lam (Son Tay, Hanoi). Known as the "Land of Two Kings" – the birthplace of national heroes Phung Hung and King Ngo Quyen – Duong Lam is often referred to as a "living museum" that preserves cultural and historical relics dating back thousands of years.

At this ancient village, students marveled at its distinctive charm, with iconic elements like banyan trees, communal wells, and village courtyards, all set within a tranquil atmosphere. Guided by experienced tour guides, they explored significant landmarks such as Mong Phu Communal House, the ancestral temple of Giang Van Minh, and the historic Dien's family house. A highlight of the visit was the hands-on experience of making and savoring Chè Lam, a famous local delicacy.

The trip provided an opportunity for the students to admire and explore the cultural values of the past.

Continuing their cultural adventure, the students visited Son Tay Ancient Citadel, a National Architectural and Historical Site. The citadel captivated them with its historical significance, vibrant cultural spaces, and lush green surroundings. Under the shade of ancient trees, they applied their knowledge to solve challenges in the interactive activity "Exploring Duong Lam and Son Tay Citadel." Creativity flourished as students sculpted clay models depicting the citadel and presented their insights about its history and heritage.

Through experiential activities, the students gained a deeper understanding, interest, and appreciation for cultural values.

Through these immersive experiences, students not only deepened their understanding of Vietnam’s cultural values but also cultivated a sense of appreciation and responsibility for preserving traditional heritage in today’s modern world.
