Replacing dry theoretical lectures and rote memorization, History and Geography lessons at GFS Ecopark Campus have transformed into inspiring, interactive spaces. Students are encouraged to explore, observe, reflect, and share their personal perspectives based on guided knowledge and real-world insights.
In a recent History and Geography class, Grade 8 students embarked on an immersive journey to explore the East Sea. Moving away from passive learning, students actively engaged in a two-stage lesson - Mapping the Spatial Dimensions of the East Sea and Decoding the Natural Features of the East Sea - conducted through two dynamic learning approaches:
Mastering Spatial Awareness via Digital Tech and Interactive Games: Students took ownership of their learning by leveraging Google Earth to locate and analyze the East Sea in 3D. They also participated in data-matching games to examine the characteristics of Vietnam's maritime zones. This approach sharpened their spatial thinking and data-cross-referencing skills, helping them internalize geographic locations naturally.

Conquering Knowledge Through Role-Play and Cryptograms: Stepping into the shoes of young explorers, students worked together to decode marine and island dossiers. To uncover keywords related to topography, they deciphered simplified Morse code challenges before applying analytical skills to trace "clues" and synthesize findings on the East Sea's climate, oceanography, resources, and environment.

By turning the lesson into a series of interactive challenges, students not only retained key concepts directly in class but also cultivated essential 21st-century skills: critical thinking in data analysis, technological fluency, teamwork, and self-directed research.
Most importantly, hands-on discovery reignited students' passion for the subject while nurturing a deep sense of patriotism and responsibility toward national sovereignty. This engaging foundation sets the stage for students to confidently launch their upcoming project, "I Love My Homeland's Seas and Islands," featuring interactive exhibitions and student presentations.
