Greenfield Debating Championship 2025 Final Round: Intense Until the Last Minute

The Semifinal round was filled with intense and exciting debates, with high stakes as each team fought for a spot in the Final. At this stage, new and up-to-date proposals were presented to the students, such as: schools having the right to address bullying behavior occurring outside the school premises; social media causing more harm than good to friendships; and supporting the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a companion. With compelling arguments, sharp reasoning, and confidence, the teams Mismatched Socks (Group A), Victoria (Group A), Peak Team (Group B), NTMT (Group B), Snack (Group C), and Legendairy (Group C) secured their spots in the next round.

Entering the Final, the proposals became more complex, requiring debaters to have deep knowledge and persuasive argumentation skills.

Group A: Victoria (Affirmative) had a fiery and intense debate with Mismatched Socks (Opposition) on the proposal "This house would hold social media companies liable for the spread of fake news."

Group B: Peak Team (Affirmative) presented strong and convincing arguments against NTMT (Opposition) on the proposal "This house would make renewable energy the only legal source of power in 2025."

Group C: Snack (Affirmative) faced off against Legendairy (Opposition) on the proposal "This house believes that parents should push their kids to become successful even at the expense of the child’s immediate happiness."

The debaters presented sharp and convincing arguments, captivating the audience. After a full day of debates, the talented debaters delivered thrilling and engaging discussions. Congratulations to the winners:

Group A (Grades 6-7): First Prize - Victoria; Second Prize - Mismatched Socks; Third Prize - Sweet Vengeance, Sweats; Encouragement Prize - Unbeatable & The G man explosion; Best Speaker - Nguyễn Thị Vân Anh (7C1).

Group B (Grades 8-9): First Prize - Peak Team; Second Prize - NTMT; Third Prize - Coolkids, Ok; Best Speaker - Nguyễn Diệu Linh (9G1).

Group C (High School): First Prize - Snack; Second Prize - Legendairy; Third Prize - Baly, dont poi; Best Speaker - Nguyễn Bích Ngọc (11G1).

Going beyond the scope of a simple debating competition, the Greenfield Debating Championship not only provided a platform for exchanging knowledge but also created a bond between individuals passionate about debating at Greenfield School. This helped the students gain experience, boost their confidence, and prepare to take on national and global debating competitions.
