Greenfield School students raise awareness about mental health care

21/10/2024

Since the beginning of October, Greenmind Month—the Mental Health Awareness Month program—has been launched at Greenfield School, featuring a series of meaningful activities for all staff members and students. In addition to the “Our Cups of Feeling” event, themed homeroom sessions on “Mental Health Care” have also been organized across different grade levels.

In the Secondary Division, under the guidance of their homeroom teachers, students have been equipped with essential knowledge about mental well-being, recognizing factors that influence mental health, and learning practical “tips” to manage stress, regulate emotions, and maintain a healthy mindset.

During the session, students explored the definition of mental health as a state of well-being that enables individuals to cope with life’s challenges. However, when three key aspects—personal factors (health, habits, nutrition), social factors (relationships), and environmental factors (education, culture, economy)—are not well-managed, mental well-being can be negatively impacted.

During the session, students were provided with valuable information on mental health care.

To help students improve their mental health, teachers introduced beneficial habits such as “enhancing sleep quality,” “understanding and managing emotions,” “maintaining a healthy diet,” and “building positive relationships.” Alongside these discussions, students engaged in interactive activities that allowed them to connect with their emotions and express themselves freely, including: “Emotion Box”; “Jar of Emotions”; “When I’m… I…”.

One of the most creative experiences was the “Jar of Emotions”—a personalized mix of water, glue, paint, and glitter, representing each student’s unique emotional landscape.

Greenfield School believes that through this meaningful session, students have gained a deeper understanding of the importance of mental health care. By nurturing positive emotions and developing emotional resilience, they will be better equipped to adapt to challenges, grow with confidence, and achieve their goals.
