Nearly 300 contestants compete at Greenfield Chess Championship 2025

18/02/2025

On February 15, nearly 300 young chess talents from Grades 1 to 12 gathered to compete in the Greenfield Chess Championship 2025. Organized by students from the Greenfield Chess Club (GCC), the tournament aims to promote the chess movement and create valuable playing experiences for students across the country.

Now in its second year, the competition has received enthusiastic participation not only from GFS students but also from students from other schools such as Edison Schools, Dewey Schools, and Vinschool. The tournament was divided into seven groups (Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5, Grades 6/7, and Grades 8/9/High School), with each participant playing six rounds in a point-based system.

The competition received enthusiastic participation from a large number of students from various schools.

Determination and effort were evident in every match as students engaged in intense battles filled with a range of emotions—excitement from winning, disappointment from misplays, and the thrill of competing. After multiple challenging rounds, the best players in each category were finally crowned.

The students competed with full dedication in every chess match.

Founded in 2023 by passionate GFS students, GCC has made its mark in the school community with members achieving remarkable results at prestigious tournaments such as the Hanoi Open Rapid Chess Championship 2024, Chess Olympiad 2024, and ChessNK Nationwide Open. At the same time, the club has created its own platform, providing students nationwide with opportunities to connect, compete, and grow in the game.

The competition was organized by members of the GCC.

Banh Gia Huy, Tournament Director and President of GCC, shared: "The biggest challenge we faced as organizers of the Greenfield Chess Championship 2025 was handling logistics before and after the event. This experience has given me a deep appreciation for the enthusiasm, creativity, and most importantly, the dedication of everyone involved in making this tournament a success."

More than just a competition, the Greenfield Chess Championship offers students a chance to sharpen their skills, build friendships, and enjoy the game they love. We hope this event has brought memorable experiences and further inspired students to keep improving and nurturing their passion for chess.
