Spelling Bee 2025 - 2026

09/03/2026

Inspired by the image of diligent bees constantly training to grow, the Spelling Bee English competition has become a meaningful annual festival at Greenfield School.

This is not only an academic playground to help students improve their pronunciation skills and expand their vocabulary, but also an opportunity to practice reflexive thinking and confidence when using English. Following the success of previous seasons, this year's Spelling Bee returns with a dedicated version for students in Grades 1, 2, and 3, promising new challenges and dramatic competitions for our young "linguists."

1. COMPETITION RULES

1.1. Preliminary Round Contestants take a test during their English class. Based on the results, the 100 most outstanding students from each grade will be selected for the Semi-finals.

1.2. Semi-final Round Exam Content:

  • Contestants receive 8 letters (including 4 vowels and 4 consonants).

  • Within 10 minutes, contestants must write meaningful English words from the given letters and create sentences containing those words. Within a single word: letters can be used multiple times, and contestants are not required to use all 8 letters.

Scoring Method:

  • 1 point for each correct word.

  • 2 points for each complete sentence (grammar errors not considered).

  • 5 points for each sentence that is correct in both grammar and vocabulary.

Organizational Information:

  • Test Time: 10 minutes.

  • Location: 4 testing rooms on the 6th floor, Building F.

  • Format: Written on paper.

  • Note: Students must prepare their own Bebe pens or ink pens. Do not use ballpoint pens or pencils.

The 50 contestants with the highest scores in each grade will be selected for the Grand Finale.

1.3. Grand Finale

Round 1: Smart Start

  • Contestants compete together on the stage according to their registration numbers.

  • The Organizing Committee presents 10 questions one by one. For each question, contestants have 10 seconds to think and write the answer on a board.

  • Contestants who answer at least 6/10 questions correctly will proceed to the next round.

Round 2: Quizizz Challenge

  • Contestants are divided into 5 groups, each consisting of approximately 10 contestants, determined through a random draw.

  • In each turn, 10 contestants within the same group use tablets to answer questions via the Wayground app, requiring high accuracy and fast response speed.

  • Upon completion, the 4 contestants with the highest scores in each turn will earn the right to enter the next round.

  • A total of 30 contestants will move forward.

Round 3: Head-to-Head Battle

  • Contestants compete in pairs, with the first player determined by a draw.

  • The Board of Judges draws a letter; the 2 contestants take turns pronouncing and spelling different words containing that letter.

  • Contestants who cannot find a correct word or who mispronounce/misspell will be eliminated. The remaining contestant with the better performance moves to the next round.

  • For Grade 3 specifically, the words found by contestants must have 2 or more syllables.

  • A total of 15 contestants will be selected for the final stage.

Round 4: 60s Spelling

  • Each student draws a set of words.

  • The Board of Judges reads the words in that set for the student to spell.

  • The student who spells the most words in the shortest time will be the winner.

2. PRIZE STRUCTURE

  • 01 Champion per Grade

  • 02 Runners-up per Grade
