Bui Duc Huy (12G1) has just excellently received an acceptance letter and a 50% scholarship for 4 years of study from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) - Japan. In addition, Duc Huy also conquered the Talent scholarship (worth 200 million VND) from Swinburne Vietnam University and a 50% scholarship for 4 years of study at VinUni.
Being oriented by his parents to study in Europe from his high school years, Duc Huy, however, felt that the lifestyle in European countries was not suitable for him. Instead, he has had a good impression of the country and people of Japan for a long time. Especially, through a story from a friend of his mother who also has a child studying in Japan, the intention to study in the land of the rising sun sparked in Huy.
In December 2023, Duc Huy started researching universities and preparing applications. In order not to be overloaded with information, Duc Huy looked for universities with moderate tuition fees and strengths in training the majors he dreamed of. "In order for my family not to have to worry too much about finances, I try to win a scholarship. If not, I will choose a university in the country that is suitable for my ability and the major I want," Duc Huy said.

The Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) that Duc Huy chose is one of the leading international universities in Japan. In particular, APU is recognized by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) with international accreditation for the Faculty of International Management and Business Administration for both English and Japanese programs. This prestigious accreditation is only achieved by 5% of the total 16,000 universities in the world, including names like Harvard Business School, Wharton...
Another reason that Duc Huy chose APU as a stopover is because APU is located in the suburbs similar to Greenfield School, the air is very fresh. With 50% of Japanese students and 50% of international students from 90 territories and countries, this is a school that gathers students diverse in culture and ethnicity, always open to welcome differences.
Duc Huy achieved IELTS 8.0 right from 10th grade, GPA in 10th grade reached 8.8, 11th grade 9.3 and the 1st semester of 12th grade reached 9.3. However, Duc Huy believes that this score is not too competitive, so in the application, he tried to persuade the Admissions Committee through essays and extracurricular activities to show his personality and what he wanted...
In the application submitted to APU, according to Duc Huy, the most challenging part is essay writing. APU requires candidates to write 4 essays with a strict word limit (500 words). Duc Huy admits that he is not too outstanding in writing. Besides that, the word limit of the essay is also difficult to draw up outstanding personality and tell his own story.
Duc Huy has considered a lot to choose a story that both shows his interests and shows the opportunity to develop himself. Finally, in the essay about "personal experience" and "personal achievement", Duc Huy chose to write about the extracurricular activities he participated in during his studies at the school.
In the essay "personal achievement and the process of achieving that achievement", he chose to share his achievement of winning 2 gold medals in archery at the Greenfield Olympics in the 2022 - 2023 and 2023 - 2024 school years. Throughout the essay, he told his purpose when participating in the tournament. For him, the process of practicing archery is the process of training concentration, calmness, and decisiveness to win himself.
In the essay "personal experience", the owner of the 50% APU scholarship talked about the community projects he participated in. He is a member of the Economic Committee of the project "Donating to children and women of Blue Dragon Organization", the project "Collecting and donating materials for handicrafts for the For Tomorrow Organization", the project "Sharing difficulties, raising steps in life" (a project to improve the stature and physical strength of students in mountainous areas through supporting facilities for sports and physical training activities). These activities have helped him realize his passion and prepare early skills and knowledge related to the Finance and Economics industry.

Coming to Greenfield School from 10th grade, Duc Huy said that the learning environment here has changed him significantly, from a passive person to a more active one. In particular, the Global Citizen Bilingual program helps him get exposed to many interesting subjects, of which Business is his favorite subject. Business hours with knowledge of investment, cash flow... create opportunities for him to unleash his potential, discover how deep his passion is with the field of Finance and Economics to make decisions about the major he will pursue.
Talking about future plans, Duc Huy hopes to establish an Education Development Fund for children in mountainous areas. This dream comes from the project "Sharing difficulties, raising steps in life" that he participated in at the Boarding Ethnic Primary School of Lang Nhi (Tram Tau district, Yen Bai province). Through experience, he thấy that charity alone is not enough, but he wants to contribute to a more sustainable future.
"Duc Huy is a ngoan, responsible, understanding and always cares about everyone. Throughout his three years of study, he was very diligent and striving, humbly to improve himself every day. The biggest change in Duc Huy when studying at Greenfield School is that he has become confident and dares to assert himself in front of the crowd. I believe that with his qualities, Duc Huy will become more and more excellent in any environment," Ms. Nguyen Minh Huyen - Homeroom Teacher of class 12G1 expressed.
