Children love stories and enjoy telling them. Therefore, when an assignment is given in the form of a story or a lesson is taught through storytelling, the students eagerly and joyfully participate. To help students learn English with passion, Greenfield School organizes the annual English Storytelling Contest.
This year’s competition has attracted the interest of a large number of young contestants, receiving nearly 200 submission videos. After a careful selection process, 36 outstanding contestants made it to the final round, competing for the title of the most talented storyteller during the two-day event on November 5th and 6th.
Dressed in fun costumes and using carefully prepared props, the children took on the roles of the main characters in familiar stories like Little Red Riding Hood, The Golden Goose, The Thirsty Crow, and more. With creative, innocent, and fresh storytelling styles, they brought a range of emotions to the audience.

Encouraging the “young storytelling talents” to shine with confidence were the enthusiastic applause from their friends, the encouragement from teachers, and the loving, proud gazes from their grandparents and parents. The children’s responses to the judges’ questions also amazed everyone with their confidence and quick wit. Through their performances, the children were able to share valuable lessons such as: going all the way, listening to adults, cherishing friendship, and always being truthful.

“I practice storytelling for 50 minutes every day”; “I wasn’t very nervous on stage”; “I’m so happy to have the support from my parents and friends” are some of the heartwarming words shared by the young contestants. Greenfield School believes that through this competition, the children gained memorable experiences and extra motivation to master the English language.
