A Vibrant Tet Through the Colorful Drawings of First Graders

06/01/2025

Some things remain valuable no matter how much time changes. Some traditions stay intact through centuries, just as they were in the beginning. Tet culture and the traditions of springtime are symbols of Vietnam’s timeless beauty.

In the Art class with the theme "Tet Celebration Drawings," first-grade students had the opportunity to showcase their creativity and express their understanding of Vietnam's traditional Lunar New Year.

The students freely unleashed their creativity in the Art class with the Tet Celebration theme.

Here, the students learned about the significance of Vietnam’s traditional Tet celebration and explored its iconic symbols, such as festive meals, Banh Chung, five-fruit trays, lucky money, firecrackers, apricot blossoms, peach blossoms, fireworks, and watermelons. These familiar images became the inspiration for their vibrant and colorful drawings.

Through the guidance of their teacher, the students gained an understanding of the significance of Tet and its essential symbols that are an inseparable part of the celebration.

After observing images of the green Chung Cake next to the red watermelon, and with the teacher's careful guidance, the young "artists" eagerly set to work showcasing their painting skills. Through their childlike eyes, rich imagination, and vibrant color combinations, the joy of welcoming Tet seemed to fill the entire lesson.

The colorful strokes gradually emerged through the young students' drawings, bringing their vibrant creations to life.

Many people believe that Tet today is different from Tet in the past. However, perhaps Tet is always the same—it's complete as long as it resides in our hearts. Lessons like these not only nurture the students' imagination but also cultivate love and pride for the enduring cultural values of the nation in their hearts.
