Grade 2 students explore the fascinating "world of science"

12/03/2025

Science is the key to unlocking a magical world, stimulating curiosity, and nurturing children's creative thinking. In particular, approaching science through practical experiences helps students gain a deeper understanding of natural phenomena while developing observation, analysis, and problem-solving skills from an early age.

This afternoon, the “Young Scientists” program (part of the PDS - Personal Development Skills curriculum) was launched for Grade 2 students from both the Cambridge International Program and the Global Citizenship Bilingual Program. Through a series of hands-on experience stations, the program offered exciting activities that allowed students to discover science in the most practical way.

Before the program began, the students eagerly answered familiar science questions, revisiting their previous lessons with enthusiasm.

Once the program kicked off, they immersed themselves in the “world of science” through five captivating experience stations: “Color-Changing Flowers” (demonstrating osmosis in plants); “Magic Balloons” (showcasing friction and attraction); “Kaleidoscope” (illustrating light reflection); “The Secret of Water” (exploring light refraction and liquid properties); “Fascinating Fossils” (understanding the fossil formation process).

With a journey card in hand, the students enthusiastically explored each station, listening attentively as teachers explained the principles behind the phenomena through engaging experiments. They were quick to put their newfound knowledge into practice, amazed at how science could be so approachable and easy to understand.

The students’ faces lit up with excitement as they discovered the wonders of science through intriguing experiments.

Greenfield School believes that this experience has brought memorable learning moments to the students, inspiring their love for scientific exploration while fostering a spirit of curiosity and developing essential skills for global citizenship.
