Grade 4 students “journey” across Vietnam to explore the rich cultural identities of the three regions.

31/03/2026

Becoming a global citizen is not only about understanding the diversity of world cultures, but first and foremost about fostering a love for one’s country and a deep appreciation of one’s own national identity.

With that spirit, yesterday (March 20), the experiential activity “Vietnam Travel Journey – Exploring Vietnamese Identity” was officially organized for Grade 4 students from the Cambridge International Program and the Global Citizen Bilingual Program.

The program was designed as a series of interactive stations representing the three regions of Vietnam—North, Central, and South—providing students with opportunities to review interdisciplinary knowledge in History, Geography, Vietnamese, Arts, ICT, and Personal Development Skills (PDS) through engaging activities. To win top titles such as “Vietnam Cultural Ambassador” or “Vietnam Cultural Star,” teams had to conquer two main rounds and collect valuable golden stars.

Round 1 – Vietnam Cultural Arena:
The competition kicked off with an exciting Quizizz round featuring 11 multiple-choice questions on the cultures of Vietnam’s three regions (cuisine, traditions, language, geography, and daily life). Students worked in pairs, using electronic devices to submit answers in real time. This was an opportunity for them to apply classroom knowledge, demonstrate quick thinking, and showcase effective teamwork right from the start.

Round 2 – Tracing Vietnamese Culture:
A vibrant journey across the country was recreated through five engaging stations, each offering a colorful and hands-on learning experience:

  • Station 1 – Vietnamese Attire:
Students explored and distinguished traditional costumes from the three regions. Creativity flourished as they colored áo tứ thân (North), decorated nón lá using marbling techniques (Central), and designed áo bà ba outfits from handmade materials (South). Each completed product reflected pride in Vietnam’s cultural heritage.

Station 1 – Vietnamese Attire: Here, students explored and distinguished the traditional costumes representative of the three regions.

    Station 2 – Culinary Essence:
This station challenged students’ dexterity as they tossed rings onto regional specialty dishes to receive name cards, then balanced them on plastic spoons and navigated obstacles to place them in the correct regional baskets. The activity helped reinforce knowledge of regional cuisine.
Students demonstrated their knowledge of regional specialties at Station 2 – Culinary Essence.
  • Station 3 – Festival Colors:
A lively festive atmosphere filled this station, where pairs participated in coordinated physical challenges such as sack jumping to collect flowers and bamboo dancing to bring them to the finish line. These activities promoted physical fitness and teamwork.

Station 3 excited students with a series of physical challenges, including sack jumping to collect flowers and bamboo dancing to bring them to the finish line.

  • Station 4 – Echoes of Vietnam:
Students discovered the richness of regional dialects through the game “Guess the Region by Accent.” They also learned and practiced the traditional Central Vietnamese “Cup Dance,” performing movements such as lifting, spinning, and stepping with impressive coordination.
At the next station, students explored the richness of regional dialects and practiced the traditional “Cup Dance” characteristic of Central Vietnam.
  • Station 5 – Imprints of the Nation:
At the final station, students identified famous landmarks through a puzzle game. The revealed images of iconic sites were then carefully placed onto a large map of Vietnam, completing a vivid picture of the country’s beauty.
The final station was where students identified famous landmarks through the “Flip the Puzzle Pieces” game.

By effectively applying their knowledge and skills, teams successfully collected golden stars and earned their place on the honor board. More than just a competition, the “Vietnam Travel Journey” created an inspiring learning environment, helping students deepen their appreciation for and commitment to preserving national cultural identity. It is hoped that these experiences will empower them to confidently continue their journey as global citizens with a strong Vietnamese spirit.

After an exciting journey through these engaging intellectual stations, congratulations to the winning classes:
