In addition to learning through textbooks, field trips to historical sites are always valuable opportunities for students to gain a deeper understanding of their national roots. On the mornings of March 25–26, Grade 8 students had a meaningful excursion to Đền Đô (Từ Sơn, Bắc Ninh).
This was an opportunity for students to explore firsthand the long-standing cultural and historical values of the nation.
Đền Đô, also known as Cổ Pháp Temple, is a sacred site with a history of nearly 1,000 years, dedicated to eight emperors of the Ly Dynasty. It is also the only place in Vietnam associated with the mysterious phenomenon known as “Bát Đế vân du – Long vân hội tụ.” In the tranquil and solemn atmosphere, teachers and students respectfully offered incense, expressing their deep gratitude to the former emperors who laid the foundations for and safeguarded the nation.

The journey continued with activities exploring distinctive architectural works rich in historical significance. From the majestic Ngũ Long Môn Gate, the heroic spirit reflected in the “Chiếu dời đô” stele, to the serene stele house and the peaceful Thủy đình by the crescent-shaped lake, each stop offered more than just visual appreciation of intricate architecture. Students also listened to historical stories about the Lý Dynasty, enriching and deepening their understanding of the nation’s past.

Beyond sightseeing and admiring historical structures, students also took part in a variety of “learning through play” activities organized by their teachers. Through three challenge stations—Quick Puzzle Assembly, “Liền anh liền chị – Folk Artisans,” and “Talented Historian”—students had the opportunity to demonstrate teamwork, intelligence, and creativity through hands-on craft activities. These lively games not only helped students retain knowledge more effectively but also created an exciting and engaging atmosphere that kept them fully immersed.
The knowledge gained through direct observation and hands-on experiences represents the core value of such field trips. More than just a visit, the journey served as a meaningful way to nurture a lasting and genuine love for the homeland. It is hoped that these experiences will become valuable memories, inspiring students to carry forward the pride of their nation in the future.
