Greenfield School intellectual pride: Stellar performance at the HKIMO 2026 international finals

On August 22–23, 2026, three "Math Warriors" from Greenfield School concluded their journey at the International Finals of the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO) held in Hong Kong. Overcoming rigorous challenges, the students proudly brought home 1 Gold Medal, 1 Bronze Medal, and 1 Merit Award.

Organized annually by the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad Committee, HKIMO is a prestigious global competition for students from Grades 1 to 12. Drawing tens of thousands of participants worldwide each year, the Olympiad provides a highly competitive academic arena designed to foster logical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Under official examination rules, candidates were required to complete a 30-question multiple-choice paper within 120 minutes. The bilingual exam evaluated five core areas: Logical Thinking, Arithmetic/Algebra, Number Theory, Geometry, and Combinatorics. Each section comprised six questions worth 5 points each, with no points deducted for incorrect answers, out of a total possible score of 150.

Reflecting on his Gold Medal achievement, Nguyen Truong Thanh Vu (Class 10C1) shared that he underwent a highly selective sequence of national rounds to qualify. He entered the international final focusing on learning, taking on complex mathematical problems, and exploring diverse mathematical concepts rather than solely chasing titles.

This success at HKIMO 2026 reinforces Greenfield School’s academic mission: cultivating foundational critical thinking, nurturing mathematical competence aligned with international standards, and empowering students to compete on global intellectual platforms.
