Secondary & High School students ready to breakthrough at Greenfield Talks alongside TEDx Speaker

Following three impactful seasons, Greenfield Talks has evolved far beyond a public speaking competition, becoming a platform that showcases remarkable transformations among secondary school students. Entering its fourth season, Greenfield Talks continues to offer a fair, dynamic, and challenging academic arena—where students learn not only how to speak, but also how to think like future leaders.

To equip students with the best possible preparation for the stage, this morning they participated in an interactive workshop with speaker and public speaking coach Nguyen Cong Duy Anh. Founder and lecturer at Tom Talk, Mr. Duy Anh became a TEDx speaker at just 17 years old, holds an 8.0 IELTS score, and has served as a bilingual host, judge, and speaker across more than 40 national and international forums.

Drawing from his own experience, Mr. Duy Anh noted that stage fright is a universal emotion. However, the physical manifestations of nervousness and excitement are remarkably similar. To overcome stage anxiety, he suggested straightforward techniques: adopting the mantra "I am excited," reframing physical sensations, focusing on rewards rather than threats, and practicing power posing.

In addition, Mr. Duy Anh guided Grade 6 students on how to brainstorm and organize their thoughts upon receiving a topic, utilizing the 5W1H framework to construct a compelling speech. Meanwhile, students in Grades 7 through 11 picked up practical tips on managing memory blanks on stage, leveraging three core anchors to regain confidence, and structuring persuasive, inspiring presentations.

Beyond listening, students actively engaged the speaker with questions throughout the session. They applied his guidance immediately by delivering short speeches and tackling the "Pick a Angle – One Sentence – 20 Seconds" challenge, which required them to formulate an inspiring message based on a given prompt.

The event concluded with an interactive session featuring top performers from Greenfield Talks Season 3: Nguyen Tran Khoi Nguyen (Grade 8G2), champion of Division A, and Vu Duc Anh (Grade 10C1), champion of Division B. Their dedicated insights provided students with fresh perspectives, clearer direction, and newfound motivation to pursue their passions.
