Three challenge stations – one mission: Grade 5 students become environmental ambassadors to protect the green planet.

28/03/2026

On March 27, 120 Grade 5 students from the Cambridge International and Global Citizen Bilingual programs transformed into environmental ambassadors in the “Little Green Heroes” program.

This interdisciplinary experiential activity—combining Science and Personal Development Skills (PDS)—was organized by the International Program teachers to help students enhance their knowledge, gain hands-on experience, and develop a deeper sense of responsibility for protecting the environment.

The program was designed as a gameshow featuring a series of engaging intellectual challenges and experiential activities. Kicking off with impactful videos highlighting current environmental issues and an energetic dance performance, the “young ambassadors” began their journey to conquer three challenge stations:

“Green Star” Knowledge Race:
Students participated in a thrilling bilingual (Vietnamese–English) quiz centered on the 3R principles (Reduce – Reuse – Recycle) and solutions to minimize plastic waste. The competition followed an elimination format; however, exciting “rescue” moments from teachers through a ball-passing game gave eliminated participants a chance to return and compete for the title of outstanding “Green Stars.”

“Green Fashion Show”:
Seemingly discarded materials were creatively transformed into unique fashion pieces. These outfits not only showcased aesthetic appeal using recycled materials but also conveyed powerful environmental messages. On the runway, each student walked confidently, expressing creativity while promoting environmental protection.

“Green Creativity” Workshop:
A space for limitless ideas, where students applied interdisciplinary knowledge from Science and Art, along with their creativity, to produce meaningful creations. They directly recycled plastic bottles into plant pots, cup lids into wind chimes, and used popsicle sticks to craft photo frames, keychains, and toy cars.

Through these hands-on activities, students turned everyday waste materials—such as plastic lids, bottles, and popsicle sticks—into useful and imaginative products.

After participating in the program, Nguyễn Vũ Anh (5G2) excitedly shared: “I realized that items we usually think of as trash can actually be reused many times. For example, I can reuse plastic bags for grocery shopping or as trash bags to reduce environmental waste. I also understand my own responsibility in protecting the planet.”

Ms. Phạm Thị Hương Ly, Head of the Grade 5 International Program, shared: “One of the key qualities of a global citizen is having a sense of responsibility toward the community and caring about sustainable values. With the goal of helping students raise awareness and turn knowledge into action, our teachers spent a month developing creative and engaging activities, integrating environmental protection knowledge into this experiential journey.”

The “Little Green Heroes” journey created memorable experiences for Grade 5 students, helping them develop critical thinking, teamwork skills, and confidence. More importantly, the program emphasized that protecting our green planet begins with the smallest, simplest actions—whether at school, in the classroom, or at home.

It is hoped that, equipped with knowledge about climate change and plastic waste, each student will become an ambassador, joining hands to make our planet greener every day. Parents are invited to take a look at how Grade 5 students demonstrated their responsibility, intelligence, and confidence throughout this meaningful journey.
