Thrilling battles at the Greenfield Debating Championship Qualifiers

Entering its 10th season, the prestigious debating platform for Secondary students – Greenfield Debating Championship – has officially returned with enthusiastic participation from many students. The competition provides an opportunity for students to sharpen their critical thinking, enhance their English proficiency, and showcase their deep knowledge on a wide range of topics from diverse perspectives.
In the competition, two teams representing the Proposition and Opposition sides present their arguments and perspectives on motions related to topics such as education, environment, and social issues. Each team must construct well-structured arguments and deliver sharp rebuttals to persuade the judges of their stance.
After an intense preliminary round, today, 32 teams from Grades 6 to 11 competed in the qualifiers to secure their place in the Semi-finals. Notably, the competition features an experienced panel of judges, who have participated in and achieved remarkable results in both national and international debating tournaments.
In the heated and dynamic atmosphere of the qualifiers, teams delivered compelling arguments, backed by solid evidence and sharp reasoning, on topics such as “This house believes that space exploration is a waste of money” and “This house believes that screen addiction is the greatest threat to young people today.” After each round, participants received valuable feedback from the judges to further refine their debating skills.
