Deciding to study in Vietnam instead of studying abroad
Khanh Tam had plans to study abroad in Australia because of the quality of education in the "land of kangaroos", and the tuition fees are also more reasonable than many other countries in Europe and America. However, when she learned about the President scholarship of Fulbright University Vietnam and the quality of training of this school, she decided to change her mind.
In December 2024, Khanh Tam started submitting her application to FUV. She researched the necessary information about the school to better understand the school she was attending, the school's development goals to find a connection with herself.
Admitting that her achievements are quite modest compared to other candidates, Khanh Tam spent time preparing a careful application, showing how she has grown through each extracurricular activity, the lessons, knowledge, experiences that she has, towards the "student profile" that Fulbright University is looking for.
The application to FUV requires candidates to write 2 personal essays with a word limit of 200 - 500 words. She chose to write about her gratitude to her piano teacher, about the lessons she learned through each stage in her life and relationships. According to Khanh Tam, "the most truthful essay possible, without exaggerating her achievements or stories" is the most persuasive essay.
For extracurricular activities, Khanh Tam experienced reality through projects, taking on different positions in clubs. She used to be the National Coordinator of Vietnam in the Asia-Pacific region in the Fix My Food research project (under UNICEF); Head of Events Department of DEC (Greenfield Environment Club) 2023 - 2025; Head of Events Department of GHC (Greenfield Handmade Club) 2023 - 2024; Head of Organizing Committee of the Rainbow Classroom project...
Khanh Tam's hard work and enthusiasm convinced the Head of the Fix My Food Project Coordinating Committee - Mr. Le Hoang Hai to write a letter of recommendation for her to include in the application sent to FUV. In the letter of recommendation, he emphasized Khanh Tam's creativity, impressed with how Khanh Tam was proactive, tried, and challenged herself with tasks.

After passing the application round, in early January, Khanh Tam participated in an interview with school representatives via Zoom. Many questions the Admissions Committee gave were quite surprising to her, not in the "plan" beforehand. Although very nervous, Khanh Tam quickly regained her composure and tried to offer the most appropriate solutions. She also boldly asked for feedback right in the interview to further improve herself.
Dream of becoming a director
Being active in school clubs and actively participating in community projects, Khanh Tam found a great passion for the field of Media - Arts. Every day, she feels the artistic "blood" urging her, reminding her not to let her passion be interrupted.
Unlike many peers who choose familiar majors such as economics, finance, science - technology..., Khanh Tam boldly tries her hand, choosing her own path. She chose the Art & Media Studies major of FUV to realize her dream of becoming a director.
For Khanh Tam, choosing to study Art and Media is not only about learning to create works of art, but also about reflecting life events through an artistic perspective. The combination of the two fields also helps learners learn how to theorize and practice in the process of researching and creating art.
Studying at Greenfield School from 3rd grade and entering the Cambridge International System from 9th grade, Khanh Tam is always grateful for the valuable learning and experience opportunities along with the enthusiastic companionship and support of teachers. "The A Level program helps me cultivate self-study skills; get early access to practical knowledge such as design in Information Technology or business knowledge in Business," Khanh Tam said.
She also feels very fortunate that Greenfield School organizes many career orientation events, university exhibitions, and exchange events between students and FUV admissions representatives. Therefore, she had many opportunities to exchange and listen to teachers' comments to complete her scholarship application in the most thoughtful way - Khanh Tam excitedly shared about the process of reaching her prestigious scholarship.
Congratulations to Khanh Tam on the results achieved. Wish her always successful on the path she has chosen and soon become an excellent director, bringing positive and long-term impact to the community.
