  • GPA: 10th grade, 11th grade and the 1st semester of 12th grade 9.4

Turning inferiority into motivation

Anh Tram shared that the reason she chose Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) was because of its multicultural environment with 50% international students, and the school is also a partner of many universities around the world. This is perfectly in line with Anh Tram's orientation, because she wants to interact, connect and experience many different countries.

She started working on her application in November 2023, less than 3 months before the final deadline of the fall scholarship round. In a rather tight time, Anh Tram focused on investing more in the essay when she already had IELTS 7.5 and a stable GPA score of 9.4 in all 3 years of high school.

APU offers 4 questions in the essay related to understanding of the school, study plan, personal experience and extracurricular activities with a limit of 200 words for each question. Anh Tram assessed that the writing was quite challenging because she needed to carefully select ideas and words to fully express the values she wanted to convey.

Anh Tram used to be a volunteer at Hanoi Free Private Tour Guide and she led tours for foreigners visiting Vietnamese heritage. This job not only fostered her passion for cultural exchange, but also provided more opportunities for her to introduce the beauty of Vietnam to foreign tourists.

Besides that, with the position of President of the SOL Music Club and the Greenfield Editorial Club in the 2023 - 2024 academic year, Anh Tram talked about the difficulties in connecting and harmonizing everyone in the club together. This has brought her valuable lessons, thereby developing her leadership and teamwork thinking skills.

In the essay about personal experience, Anh Tram recounted the story during her participation in the Military Summer Camp in Thai Nguyen in 3rd grade. She once had to face criticisms about her appearance from some classmates. However, she quickly turned those feelings of inferiority into motivation to overcome difficulties.

Instead of letting herself be affected by negative words, she focused on maximizing her training and communicating more. "Each person is a different version, regardless of gender, skin color or appearance." She wants to connect people, help people have positive energy.

This is also the message she sent in the essay to impress the Admissions Committee. And finally, Anh Tram reached her dream with a 65% scholarship from the top 10 university in Japan.

Dream of pursuing Public Relations

This September, Anh Tram will "take off" to the land of cherry blossoms to continue her learning journey. She plans to study Public Relations to continue pursuing her passion for cultural exchange. Besides that, she also cherishes the dream of promoting the image of Vietnam to international friends when participating in clubs at APU.

During this time, along with preparing for the National High School Graduation Exam, Anh Tram plans to learn more Japanese, upgrade herself by learning more new courses such as Data Analysis, Probability and Statistics and build a habit of reading news and watching news. She also wants to continue working as a Tour Guide for foreign tourists visiting Hanoi before flying to Japan.

Having been attached to Greenfield School since 3rd grade, Anh Tram has always felt grateful because the school is a launching pad that helps her get closer to her dream. In 10th grade, Anh Tram excellently conquered the Global Leaders scholarship worth 30%. This is an opportunity to help her study in the Global Citizen Bilingual System, where "explores" the potential that is still hidden deep inside her. 3 years of studying in the Global Citizen Bilingual System has helped her maximize her creativity, teamwork and debating skills. Besides that, with the diverse system of clubs at Greenfield School, she gradually stepped out of her comfort zone and found herself more dynamic and confident.

With the motto "Shape your world", APU aims to develop global leaders in all fields. Greenfield School believes that 3 years of study in the Global Citizen Bilingual System, she has been equipped with the foundation of knowledge and essential skills to better adapt to the new environment and be ready to integrate with the learning environment at APU.

Congratulations to Anh Tram and hope that she will have memorable experiences and continue to reap more success in the future.
