Students of Class 11G2 strive to raise awareness about the LGBTQ+ community through a special project.

In collaboration with Hanoi Pride – the alliance of organizations advocating for the LGBTQ+ community in Hanoi, the students of Class 11G2 have embarked on a meaningful community project titled “Proud to Stand.”

To prepare for the project, on the morning of September 27, the students had the opportunity to meet and listen to Ms. Mai Quynh Anh, Program Manager at TUVA Communication, Project Manager of “Nha Nhieu Cot” (The House with Many Pillars), and Coordinator of gender-related projects in partnership with international organizations such as IOM, CARE, Oxfam, UN Women, Plan International, and the British Council.

As an experienced and passionate speaker, Ms. Quynh Anh delivered an inspiring session that offered students an overview of the LGBTQ+ community, the challenges its members face, and the continuous efforts of “Nha Nhieu Cot” in breaking gender stereotypes, preventing discrimination, and promoting gender equality.

During the session, the students of 11G2 worked in groups on a special task: identifying the “privileges” that men, women, or LGBTQ+ individuals may or may not have. The discussion sparked many insightful ideas and reflections, with students actively exploring practical actions to promote gender equality and sharing creative initiatives to be implemented in the coming weeks.

Following the sharing session, the students will spread the culture of diversity and respect within the school community by organizing Pride Week @ Greenfield. Highlights of the week will include engaging activities such as an LGBTQ+ knowledge challenge minigame, rainbow-themed dress code days, and exhibitions of creative student projects.
