Be Psy Bucky numbers 03, 04: Greenfield School Students Explore and Shape Their Personal Identity
23/01/2025
In the fast-paced rhythm of modern life, losing one's sense of personal identity is a common challenge among young people. Amid countless societal standards, family expectations, peer pressure, and even personal desires, many young individuals find themselves in a state of confusion, directionlessness, and a lack of self-understanding.
Recognizing this issue, Workshop Be Psy Bucky 03 and 04 were organized by the Greenfield School Counseling Department for students in Grades 8 to 12 on January 21 and 23. With the theme “A Cup of Tea, Our Story,” these two sessions aimed to equip students with useful knowledge, helping them better understand themselves and discover their strengths and passions. Notably, students from the Hype up Greenfield (HUG) Club also contributed and brainstormed ideas for meaningful activities in the program.

In the "Cup of Tea" session, Ms. Hoang Dieu Thuy - School Counselor at Greenfield School, guided students in unpacking various concepts and knowledge about personal identity through a range of activities such as guessing the flavors of pickled plums, creating our wishlist, and sharing cards. Through these activities, students realized that self-exploration is like guessing unknown flavors; it requires moments of "stillness" to reflect and think deeply. At the same time, they were able to clarify their goals for the two workshops and embark on self-discovery through a series of thought-provoking questions.

The search for answers to questions like "Who am I?", "What am I passionate about?", "What are my values?" often leads many students to experience a crisis of identity. This issue was also addressed and explored during the "Chuyện mình" (Our Stories) segment. "Friends," "family," and "the learning experience at GFS" are among the factors students identified as influencing the process of building their personal identity. In addition, the students had the opportunity to "visualize" their self-image through clay modeling, prompted by questions like, "If you had to use one image to describe yourself, what would it be?" and "Where is that image positioned now?"

The advice shared with the students in their journey of self-discovery included: "Acknowledge and accept your emotions," "Set clear goals," "Explore your interests and beliefs," and "Seek support from others." Instead of avoiding or becoming overwhelmed by uncertainty, the students were encouraged to approach their challenges from different perspectives, understanding that feelings of anxiety and confusion are natural parts of the growth process.

We hoped that the valuable insights shared in Be Psy Bucky No. 03 and No. 04 will help the students gain a deeper understanding of themselves, clearly define their goals, and confidently embark on the journey of shaping their personal identity.
