Grade 1 students "transformed" into brilliant young scientists

27/02/2025

Lively, enthusiastic, and excited—these were the feelings of Grade 1 students from the Cambridge International Program and the Global Citizen Bilingual Program at the "Young Scientists" playground, part of the PDS - Personal Development Skills program.

Through interactive experience stations, the event encouraged students to foster creative thinking and ignite their passion for exploration and scientific discovery.

Prior to the event, students, together with their teachers and classmates, worked on creative projects such as volcano models, solar system models, and models of animal habitats. By making these scientific models themselves, they gained a deeper understanding of natural phenomena and absorbed knowledge in a more visual and engaging way.

Student exhibits & interactive science stations

The students' models were showcased at the event, where teachers introduced five exciting interactive stations:"Invisible Colors" (Total internal reflection phenomenon), "Mini Cinema" (Light and light transmission), "Fun with Sound" (The working principle of a whistling fan), "Rainbow Slime" (The changing states of matter), "The Journey of Colors" (The phenomenon of liquid stratification). With journey cards in hand, students eagerly explored the fascinating world of science at each station.

The hands-on activities and experiments were met with enthusiasm and excitement from the students

"Why does dish soap sink when poured into water?", "What happens when we mix water and modeling clay?", "Why does an object's shadow move when the light source changes?". These were just a few of the intriguing questions raised at the stations. By listening to teachers' explanations, observing experiments firsthand, and conducting hands-on activities, students realized that science is all around them—easy to understand and exciting to explore.

Science is not only the foundation of knowledge but also the key to unlocking future opportunities. Through this event, Greenfield School hopes that students had memorable moments of joyful learning, developed a love for discovery, and nurtured their passion for science. May these experiences serve as a launchpad for them to continuously grow, striving to become talented and creative global citizens.
