Integrating historical knowledge through hands-on experiential activities is a natural educational approach, helping students absorb lessons in an engaging and effective way.
During their Semester 2 experiential learning trip, Grade 2 students had a memorable visit to the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long – a thousand-year-old heritage complex in Hanoi.
At the start of the journey, students watched a documentary about the ancient capital before excitedly passing through the majestic Doan Mon Gate to explore the heritage site. In the exhibition space “A Thousand Years from Beneath the Earth,” valuable archaeological artifacts brought a vivid historical world to life before their eyes. In particular, at the solemn Kinh Thien Palace, teachers and students respectfully offered incense to honor their ancestors.iên tổ.
Beyond its unique architecture, students also learned about the traditional imperial examination system and the royal court exams of the past at a thematic exhibition area. The group also visited the “D6 Revolutionary House and Bunker,” where original artifacts, meeting rooms, and working spaces of the Military Central Committee during the resistance war against the United States have been carefully preserved.
A highlight of the trip was the paper kite-making activity, where students could create and fly their own kites. Smiles were everywhere as the children watched their handmade kites soar into the heritage sky. This activity not only brought joy but also helped students appreciate and preserve traditional cultural practices.
After the trip, students returned with valuable cultural knowledge and unforgettable memories. The visit sparked a sense of national pride and helped Grade 2 students develop a deeper appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of their ancestors. The school hopes that each heritage journey will inspire students to nurture their love for history and continue growing every day.
