Grade 7 students showcase their intelligence at the Cambridge Talents competition

17/02/2025

After an exciting week of competition among Primary students, the Cambridge Talents contest continued to heat up with intense intellectual battles from 42 Grade 7 students in the Cambridge International Program. Thrilling score chases and dramatic mind games turned the competition into a truly engaging intellectual playground.

The Grade 7 Cambridge Talents competition featured three rounds, with questions covering Mathematics, English, and Science. Students were randomly assigned to teams of two or three, giving them the opportunity to review their knowledge, interact with peers, and develop teamwork skills.

Right from the first questions, the competition was filled with excitement.

In Round 1, 14 teams answered 20 multiple-choice questions, with 15 seconds to respond to each one. A correct answer earned them a point ticket. The early questions seemed manageable, as teams confidently provided accurate responses. However, an unexpected twist occurred at question 18, a challenging Science question, which stumped all teams. At the end of the round, seven outstanding teams with close scores advanced to the next stage.

In each questions, students had 15 second to answer the question and receive 1 ticket for the right answer.

In Round 2, the remaining seven teams had to answer five questions. Each team was given four 5-point tickets, which they could place on up to three answer choices (A, B, C, or D). Their final score depended on how they allocated their points. With quick thinking, decisive moves, and smart strategies, teams 01, 05, 09, and 10, with scores of 65, 80, 80, and 65, respectively, secured their spots in the final round.

With agility, decisiveness, and well-planned strategies, four teams advanced to the final round.

The final round demanded both speed and sharp thinking as teams competed on Quizizz. Their quick reflexes, English proficiency, and seamless teamwork created an intense battle, with the leaderboard constantly shifting after each question. The competition reached its climax with an incredibly close finish, crowning the champions with a total score of 16,750 points.
