Greenfield School Ecopark Campus partners with parents to navigate Grade 9 students toward academic success

04/04/2026

With a shared vision of supporting students during their pivotal transition to high school, Greenfield School Ecopark Campus hosted the seminar "Introduction to High School Academic Pathways and Career Orientation" on the morning of April 4, 2026. The event saw a large turnout of Grade 9 students and parents, alongside the School Board, department heads, and homeroom teachers.

Navigating challenges in the Digital Era

During the seminar, Ms. Phan Thanh Van, Head of the High School Mathematics Department, provided practical insights into the challenges posed by the technological age. She emphasized that in an era where human values and learning methods are constantly evolving, students must move beyond rote memorization. Instead, they need to be equipped with the knowledge, character, and individual competencies required to thrive in a modern landscape.

Addressing the diverse options available—ranging from public and vocational schools to private intensive or bilingual programs—the seminar encouraged students to reflect on their "internal operating system." Key considerations included whether they prefer competitive environments or creative freedom, their aspirations for age 18 (domestic vs. international universities), and their adaptability to a 2030 workforce that prioritizes problem-solving over traditional learning.

Greenfield School currently offers three specialized high school tracks: High Quality, Global Citizen Bilingual (English-English), and Global Citizen Bilingual (Chinese-English). These personalized pathways are designed to serve as the "key" to future university admissions, ensuring students possess the foundational knowledge, linguistic proficiency, and essential soft skills of global citizens.

Diverse strategies for university success

The seminar featured guest speakers from leading institutions, offering three distinct perspectives on securing a "ticket" to top-tier higher education:

Conquering Top Public Universities:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Tu, Director of Engineering Physics at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), noted that for 2026, HUST continues to apply three admission methods: talent selection, thinking assessment examinations, and high school graduation exam results. He highlighted that Greenfield students hold a significant advantage in international certificate admissions and thinking assessments (where IELTS scores are factored in). Notably, in 2025, 11 Greenfield students successfully enrolled in HUST via these pathways.

International Degrees and "Study Abroad at Home":

Ms. Ho Thu Hoai, Deputy Head of Admissions at British University Vietnam (BUV), discussed the landscape of international education. BUV currently offers 24 bachelor’s programs awarded by six prestigious UK universities. Beyond academic merit, English proficiency is vital. Over the years, many Greenfield students have secured scholarships ranging from 50% to 100% at BUV, including the British Ambassador Scholarship, thanks to their strong academic foundations and impressive IELTS scores.

Ms. Ho Thu Hoai, Deputy Head of Admissions at British University Vietnam (BUV), notes that in addition to academic merit, English proficiency is a key requirement for applicants.

Study Abroad and Scholarship Opportunities in China:

Ms. Le Dieu Linh, CEO of CCN Vietnam, highlighted the rising global rankings of Chinese universities. She noted that to remain competitive, Chinese language proficiency alone is no longer enough. Greenfield’s Chinese program, in collaboration with CCN, provides a comprehensive bridge including the International Foundation Program (IFP). This allows students to secure admissions and scholarships from 37 CCN member universities as early as Grade 11.

The high-value scholarships awarded to Greenfield students in recent years serve as a testament to the effectiveness of the school’s curricula. These achievements reinforce Greenfield’s mission: providing world-class education that empowers students to adapt and shine anywhere in the world.

Closing the 90-minute session, the school shared a poignant message: "Education is not a race to see who finishes first, but a journey to see who finds the right path to go the furthest on their own two feet". The seminar successfully provided parents and students with the clarity needed to choose the most suitable academic trajectory following their Grade 9 graduation.
