High school students “decode” the Hospitality industry with international experts.
25/03/2026
The rapid growth of the Hospitality industry in recent years requires professionals not only to have strong expertise but also to possess a refined ability to understand customer experience.
To help students explore an international-standard learning environment and understand the connection between culinary arts and service mindset, the Career Guidance Department of Greenfield School collaborated with BHMS Business & Hotel Management School (Switzerland) to organize the workshop “From the Essence of Swiss Cuisine to Building a Service Mindset.”
The program offered a highly engaging and hands-on career orientation experience. During the workshop, students from Grades 10–12 (Global Citizen Bilingual and Cambridge International programs) had the opportunity to learn directly about BHMS—a specialized institution in Hospitality, Tourism, and Culinary Arts education in Switzerland, widely regarded as the cradle of global Hospitality education. In addition to information about academic pathways, scholarship programs, and paid international internship opportunities, students also explored how customer experiences are designed through the art of food presentation.
The highlight of the workshop was the hands-on session in making a signature Swiss confection, guided by Mr. Urs Eberhardt, Regional Director for Asia-Pacific at BHMS with over 30 years of experience in international hotel management, and Mr. Roland Schilter—an international chef currently serving as a Travel Chef at the school.
Notably, the entire workshop was conducted in English, providing an ideal environment for Greenfield School students to maximize their language strengths. Students demonstrated confidence and enthusiasm as they actively interacted with the two speakers, asking questions about fascinating “behind-the-scenes” stories in the high-end service industry. Under their dedicated guidance, students not only crafted delicate pieces of chocolate by hand but also developed internationally aligned communication skills.
