Intense showdowns in the Grand Finale of the Greenfield Debating Championship 2025.

21/11/2025

Following the thrilling qualifiers on November 15, the final round of the Greenfield Debating Championship 2025 officially kicked off today. Nearly 50 students from Grades 6 to 11 were divided into three divisions: Division A (Grades 6–7), Division B (Grades 8–9), and Division C (Grades 10–11).

Teams competed in the Semifinals and Finals to determine the top performers of the season.

The Semifinals were full of excitement, featuring intense debates as each team fought for a spot in the Finals. Timely and thought-provoking motions were raised, such as: The internet can help people find true friends, A millionaire should prioritize investing in green technologies over space exploration, and Cyberbullying should be classified as a criminal offense. With persuasive arguments and confidence, the following teams advanced to the Finals: Division A – Sixseven, Friesmart; Division B – D4VD IS INNOCENT, Victoria; Division C – Mixue, Peak Team.

The room was filled with intense tension as the Finals began.

Teams had the opportunity to debate motions closely connected to school life. In Division A, Friesmart (Opposition) faced Sixseven (Proposition) on the motion: “Schools should require students to participate in at least one club or community organization as part of their curriculum.” In Division B, D4VD IS INNOCENT (Opposition) went up against Victoria (Proposition) on: “Schools should allow students to drop compulsory subjects if they have clearly identified their future career path.” Meanwhile, in Division C, Peak Team (Proposition) debated Mixue (Opposition) on: “A high-achieving student from a low-income family should prioritize vocational training over university education.”

Throughout the debates, students presented sharp, persuasive arguments with confidence and clarity, earning nods of agreement from parents, teachers, and peers. Key points included the benefits of club participation for developing soft skills, weighing university versus vocational training based on family circumstances, and the importance of allowing students to choose subjects aligned with their career aspirations.

Students gave their best, preparing sharp arguments, speaking with confidence, and showing courage during their team rebuttals.

The debate was met with enthusiastic support from grandparents, parents, teachers, and classmates. After each presentation, teams received applause, encouraging pats on the back, and proud looks, providing the emotional boost needed to perform confidently in the following rounds.
