The intense showdown of 32 teams in the English Debating Competition Preliminary Round.

15/11/2025

After 10 successful seasons that made a mark across the student community, the 11th season of the Greenfield Debating Championship (GDC) – the English debating competition – has officially returned this year.

The competition provides students with an opportunity to sharpen critical thinking skills, improve English proficiency, and present their knowledge across diverse fields from multiple perspectives.

Today marked the preliminary round, featuring 32 teams from Grades 6 to 11. Teams debated a wide range of topics, from education, technology, and the environment to social issues. Each team, representing either the Proposition or Opposition, had to present clear arguments, offer sharp rebuttals, and persuade the judges, all while demonstrating flexible debating skills and logical reasoning.

Every team displayed confident, bold, and persuasive arguments.

Each brought unique debating strategies, creating an atmosphere that was both lively and intense. The judging panel, composed of experienced debate experts with achievements in international competitions, provided insightful and valuable feedback for the contestants.

While listening to their opponents’ points, students also had to take notes, discuss, and prepare their next presentations.

Throughout the round, teams delivered compelling debates backed by strong evidence and reasoning. After each presentation, contestants received detailed and constructive feedback from the judges, helping them refine their critical thinking and presentation skills for the following rounds.

The panel included teachers from both inside and outside the school, offering fair and sincere evaluations for all teams.

Which teams will excel in this round and secure a spot in the final rounds on November 21? And who will earn the Best Speaker title of GDC Season 11? Stay tuned for updates and cheer on all the debating champions of GDC 2025!

The presentations were supported and cheered on by parents, teachers, and classmates, creating an encouraging and energetic environment for all participants.
