When mentioning Nguyen Gia Bao Ha (Grade 7C1 - Cambridge International System, Greenfield School), teachers and friends often think of the image of a beautiful, academically successful, extremely dynamic and talented student.
Recently, Bao Ha caught everyone's attention when she was chosen to walk in the biggest children's fashion show in Vietnam: Vietnam Junior Fashion Week - held in December 2020 with the participation of many leading designers and fashion brands in the country.
In contrast to her poised and professional image on the catwalk, Bao Ha is a playful and lovely girl, true to her 13 years of age. Surprisingly, despite her passion for the arts, Bao Ha does not neglect her studies. Her academic scores are always among the highest in the class.
At the Cambridge International Primary Checkpoint exam held by the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) last October, Bao Ha excellently achieved a perfect score of 6.0/6.0 in all 3 subjects: Math, English (ESL), and Science. This makes those who already love Bao Ha even more admired.
How did Bao Ha come to Vietnam Junior Fashion Week? What is the secret to Bao Ha's perfect score? Let's follow the conversation with Bao Ha to learn more about this multi-talented student!

Achieving a perfect score of 6.0/6.0 in all 3 subjects: Math, English (ESL), and Science at the Cambridge International Primary Checkpoint exam is truly an impressive result. Were you surprised by this result?
Before participating in the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint exam, the teachers shared with us that this was an important and challenging exam. To complete the exam well, students need comprehensive English skills, a solid foundation of knowledge in Math and Science.
When doing the exam, there were some questions that I was not sure about the answer and I used the elimination method. At that time, I thought I could only get about 5.8 or 5.9 points. When I knew the results, I felt very surprised but also very happy because I couldn't believe that I could achieve a perfect score in all 3 subjects in this exam.
Can you reveal any secrets that helped you achieve such a score?
I think I have no special secrets. Actually, before the exam, I was very stressed. I cried because I thought I could not complete the exam well. But my parents encouraged me that grades are important but not everything. As long as I try, try to improve my weaknesses, and promote my strengths, I will achieve what I want.
In class, teachers like Ms. Nhung, Ms. My, Mr. Shawn, Mr. Matt ... always closely support us. When studying, I focus on listening to the teacher's lectures. If I don't understand, I will ask the teacher again. When I get home, I will note down the main ideas of that day's lesson in a small notebook and review it. I think just grasping the knowledge that the teachers have taught in class can achieve a high score.

How is your schoolwork going? Among the subjects in class, which subject do you like the most?
Throughout 7 years of studying, I have been a student with good academic achievements and always in the top of the class. I find that the subjects in the Cambridge program are very interesting, useful and make me feel excited to explore. We are exposed to foreign teachers every day, absorb a lot of new knowledge and create creative learning products.
If I choose the most favorite subject, I will choose English. I like English because it is a common language, used in many countries around the world. In addition, I also really like English songs. Studying English with teachers every day, I find that my English has improved a lot and become more and more confident.
Share a little about your participation in Vietnam Junior Fashion Week - Vietnam Children's Fashion Week recently. How was your journey to this playground?
My family has no one in the arts, but since I was a child, I have been very fond of art activities such as playing the piano, singing, dancing, and especially fashion shows. At school, teachers always encourage me to show my talents and create conditions for me to participate in activities. In addition to participating in events and competitions organized by the school, I look for art competitions outside to try my hand at.
When I learned that Vietnam Junior Fashion Week 2020 was recruiting young models, I signed up to participate in the casting. Luckily, I passed. After a short training course, I was chosen to perform for the collections of designer Do Manh Cuong, Hannah and Cindy for Kids brands.

For the first time performing on a large-scale fashion stage, how did you feel?
Very happy and nervous. When I stood in the wings, I was very nervous, but when I stepped onto the stage, I became more confident. I think it was the exposure to the stage from a young age and regularly participating in activities and events organized by the school that made me master the stage, confidently expressing my own colors and personality.
Thanks to a good performance at Vietnam Junior Fashion Week 2020, I was tiếp tục được lựa chọn to participate in Vietnam Junior Fashion Week 2021 diễn ra tại TP.HCM vào tháng 4 tới. I hope to perform for Cindy for Kids and HennaDa brands.
While pursuing your passion for the arts, while ensuring good academic performance, how do you balance the two?
I think just dividing the time reasonably can balance both. Usually, when I study for 1 hour, I will allow myself to play for 5-15 minutes. After completing the homework and preparing carefully for the next day's lesson, I will do other things such as playing the piano, singing, dancing ... If I participate in art activities, I only participate at the weekend so as not to affect my studies.

What is your dream?
Since I was a child, I have dreamed of many things, but now I dream of being able to study abroad in New Zealand or in England in the field of music and fashion. I am lucky to have parents and teachers who always support and accompany me in all activities.
Thank you Bao Ha for your sharing. Wish you will achieve your dream!
