10C1 Students Bring Joy to Dong Quy Kindergarten Children

10/05/2025

Inspired by the "White Bauhinia" – a characteristic flower of the Northwest mountains and forests – students from class 10C1 initiated the "White Bauhinia" project.

This initiative aimed to collect books and toys for children in highland areas, fostering a reading culture, boosting their spirits, and inspiring them to pursue education, acquire knowledge, and contribute to themselves and society in the future.

With the support of teachers and the Good Neighbors International (GNI) organization, the project garnered significant attention from the Greenfield School community. After nearly two months of implementation, it successfully collected almost 500 children's books, stories, and various toys. On May 10, these meaningful gifts were personally delivered by the students to the children at Dong Quy Kindergarten in Son Duong, Tuyen Quang.

Small but meaningful gifts were handed to the children at Dong Quy Kindergarten.

Dong Quy Kindergarten is located in a particularly disadvantaged highland commune, part of Program 135 (a national target program for sustainable poverty reduction). The majority of students are from ethnic minority groups, facing numerous hardships. Many desks at the school are severely dilapidated, and recreational resources such as toys and storybooks are scarce for the young children.

In addition to the donated books, stories, and toys from the 10C1 project, Greenfield School also presented the teachers and children of Dong Quy Kindergarten with 10 million VND from its Compassion Fund to purchase new desks, chairs, and other gifts. During the visit, the students also prepared vibrant musical performances and engaging, cohesive games. Not only did the local children enthusiastically participate, but they also reciprocated with adorable performances for the Greenfield School students and teachers.

The friendliness and camaraderie between the students and the young children were evident throughout the trip.

Quynh Anh (10C1) shared, "Although the journey to the school was long, seeing the joy and innocence of the children here immediately energized me. They enthusiastically joined the activities and were so happy to receive the toys. I believe our efforts in implementing this project have been somewhat successful in spreading positivity to the children."

It is hoped that these small but meaningful actions have contributed to a positive change in the community. Moreover, through this project, the students have gained a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by children in these areas, raised community awareness about reusing old items, and truly grasped the meaning of giving back.
