The 10G3 students visit and present gifts to war invalids at Kim Bang Convalescence Center

15/12/2025

From the more than 10 million VND raised through three workshops as part of the "Together for care" project, the 10G3 students made a meaningful visit and presented gifts to the Kim Bang Convalescence Center for War Invalids (Ninh Binh).

Three months of planning and implementation; 24 members working together; over 10 million Vietnamese Dong raised, along with countless acts of kindness given and received – these are the impressive numbers from the "Together for care" project by the students of Class 10G3 (Global Citizen Bilingual System, Greenfield School Ecopark Campus).

The project, which falls under the Community Project subject curriculum, was initiated with the desire to build a bridge connecting the younger generation with history, as well as to express profound gratitude and share in the pain and loss of war invalids and sick soldiers—those who once bravely fought for a peaceful, independent, and unified Vietnam.

To realize the project's goals, the 10G3 students meticulously planned and assigned personnel to design a communications campaign, call for community donations, and organize fundraising workshops/sales. These activities included a photo frame workshop ("Frames of Gratitude"), a Halloween cookie sale ("Oreo Pop"), and a shrink plastic keychain workshop ("Shrinky Drinksies").

On December 13, the students visited the Kim Bang Convalescence Center for War Invalids (Ninh Binh) and personally presented the donated funds. Established in 1976, the center is specialized in caring for, treating, and rehabilitating war invalids, sick soldiers, and family members of revolutionary contributors suffering from chronic mental illness, dementia, or psychosis.

Currently, the Center is caring for and treating 104 severely disabled war invalids, sick soldiers, and family members of revolutionary contributors. The majority of these individuals suffer from intellectual and memory decline due to traumatic brain injuries sustained during the war. They are often easily agitated and unable to control themselves, requiring nurses and doctors to take responsibility for all personal activities, including eating, living, sleeping, and resting.

The Class 10G3 collective hands over the amount of over 10 million VND to the war invalids and sick soldiers at the Kim Bang Convalescence Center (Ninh Binh).
The students also presented the war invalids and sick soldiers with small, beautiful handmade gifts crafted by the students themselves.

In addition to presenting the gifts, the students brought songs and performances to help the war invalids and sick soldiers alleviate the pain of war and live happier, healthier lives. Songs like "Nối vòng tay lớn" (Joining Hands), "Còn gì đẹp hơn" (What is More Beautiful), and "Viết tiếp câu chuyện hòa bình" (Writing the Next Chapter of Peace) not only moved everyone to tears but also served as a heartfelt thank you from the students to the elder generation.

Every song and performance was a sincere message of gratitude from the students' hearts to the older generation.
The "Guess the Song" game organized by the 10G3 students enlivened the hall.

Xuan Tung shared that as it was their first time carrying out a community project, he and his classmates inevitably encountered shortcomings, such as not knowing how to coordinate tasks or assign personnel effectively. However, after each activity, he and his friends consistently tried to identify these shortcomings and find ways to overcome them to achieve the project's goals.

Tue Lam reflected that the project opened a door to memory—a place where war, pain, and hope coexist. From this experience, she and her classmates were awakened by the profound realization that today's peace is a gift exchanged for immense sacrifice. The young generation must continue to write the story of peace through knowledge, resilience, and responsibility, ensuring the sacrifices of their predecessors are never forgotten.

The "Together for care" project clearly demonstrates Greenfield School’s educational philosophy: learning through experience, and learning to serve. Through such humanitarian projects, lessons in empathy and community responsibility are passed on to the students, who will continue to internalize and powerfully spread these values.
