11G1 students join hands to raise awareness on preventing and combating human trafficking

Following the success of “Lam Sang” – a community project raising social awareness about autism in Semester 1, entering Semester 2, students of class 11G1 have continued to launch a new project titled “Shield me up.”
The project aims to help students within the school clearly understand the risks of unsafe migration and human trafficking in the digital context, while also training them in skills to identify risks, seek help, and become voices that protect the community.
To prepare for the project, on January 7th, students of class 11G1 attended the “Red Flags 101” workshop. Here, they had the opportunity to meet representatives from Hagar International—a non-governmental organization with 17 years of operation in Vietnam dedicated to supporting those affected by psychological trauma caused by human trafficking, violence, and abuse—to learn the knowledge and skills necessary to avoid becoming victims of these crimes.
During the workshop, under the guidance of Ms. Nguyen Van Chi – Case Management Officer at Hagar Vietnam – students learned about the definition of human trafficking, the current situation of human trafficking in Vietnam, and the risk factors that make individuals vulnerable to becoming victims. They also explored the methods, plots, and tactics of human trafficking criminals, such as study abroad scams, "easy work with high salary" scams, foreign marriage brokerage, and labor export scams.
Throughout the program, students participated in lively discussions, offered their perspectives and viewpoints, and asked questions to the speaker. Additionally, they practiced handling various trafficking scenarios (study abroad scams, high-paying job scams, and romance scams). Their understanding, self-discipline, and proactive proposals for self-protection against predatory invitations deeply impressed and were highly valued by Ms. Nguyen Van Chi.

Nguyen Man Bao Tram (11G1) shared: “The workshop was very meaningful and interesting, helping us realize that no one can save us better than ourselves. Everyone needs solid knowledge and understanding to avoid being easily deceived. As we carry out this project, I hope we can convey this message to help fellow students increase their vigilance, protect themselves, and join hands to prevent human trafficking.”
Following the “Red Flags 101” workshop, 11G1 students will continue to implement a series of activities, including: “Safe Zone Mapping” (surveying and establishing safe area maps within the school) and “The Ripple Effect” (communication to help students identify the risks of online scams). Let’s follow and wait to see how they bring these activities to life in the near future!
