A meaningful trip to Tuyet Thai Nursing Home by 10th-Grade students

As part of the Community Service subject, on the afternoon of November 30, the students of classes 10C1 and 11C1 embarked on a meaningful trip to Tuyet Thai Nursing Home in Dong Anh, Hanoi. Officially operating since 2012, Tuyet Thai Nursing Home has become a "second home" for nearly 90 elderly residents, many of whom suffer from chronic illnesses or are bedridden.
Prior to the visit, the students carried out a fundraising project called "Flowers on the Rock." Applying the knowledge they had learned, they came up with various ideas to support the mental well-being and daily lives of the elderly at Tuyet Thai Nursing Home. Additionally, they utilized different tools to create a timeline, delegate tasks among team members, and manage the project's progress effectively.

At Tuyet Thai Nursing Home, the students had the opportunity to interact, meet, and listen to the stories and heartfelt sharing of the elderly residents. In addition, they brought engaging musical performances, fun games, and small, thoughtful gifts to bring joy, optimism, and meaningful moments of happiness to the seniors.

Especially during this trip, the students also donated medical equipment to Tuyet Thai Nursing Home, including oxygen machines, suction machines, and blood glucose meters, with the hope of providing timely support for the elderly in emergency situations. This was the result of over two months of fundraising efforts, during which students from the two classes sold baked goods and organized workshops to make keychains and decorate phone cases.

Participating in the trip, Nguyen Le Ha Anh (11C1) shared: “I found this project very meaningful because, through interacting with the elderly, I have come to appreciate and understand the importance of family bonds. Although the fundraising and preparation period was quite rushed, we did our best to complete everything as well as possible. We are very happy to have contributed a small part to bringing joy to the elderly here.”
Greenfield School believes that this trip has left the students with unforgettable experiences, helping them gain a deeper understanding of life and the circumstances of the elderly at Tuyết Thái Nursing Home. At the same time, the students had the opportunity to apply their knowledge from the subject into a real-life project, while also developing essential skills such as planning and teamwork to achieve the best possible outcomes.
