Innovating Traditional Culture: Bridging Heritage and the Digital Age

22/03/2025

In this era of rapid digital advancement, cultural exchange has become easier than ever through various communication methods. Yet, how can traditional cultural products be innovated and promoted globally while preserving their unique identity? And what are the most effective ways to encourage young people to engage with these heritage products?

These pressing questions are precisely what inspired Greenfield School to launch its "Innovating Traditional Cultural Products" community project.

As part of the Community Service curriculum, students from class 11G1 yesterday (March 20) engaged in an insightful exchange with Dr. Luong Thi Thu Huong, a lecturer from the Faculty of Communications and External Culture at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. Under the theme "Vietnamese Culture, Material Culture, and Spiritual Culture," the session not only provided students with a deeper understanding of culture for their upcoming project but also ignited a profound sense of pride in Vietnam's long-standing national heritage.

Listening to Dr. Thu Huong's insights, the students realized that culture is not an abstract concept but is embedded in their daily lives, from customs to everyday language. The speaker also provided compelling examples of traditional dishes, handicrafts, costumes, festivals, and customs, helping students grasp the distinctions between Vietnam's material and spiritual culture.

The students attentively listened to the speaker's insights.

Armed with the shared information and knowledge, the students gained a clearer awareness of national cultural values, fostering a sense of responsibility for preserving, developing, and disseminating Vietnamese identity in an era of globalization. They actively posed numerous questions, demonstrating a keen interest and desire to explore the traditional cultural values of their nation more deeply.

We hope that following today's exchange, the students' love and interest in traditional national culture will be reimagined and spread through concrete, creative products in their upcoming project.
