"Children thrive best when they feel safe, cared for, and respected. A positive learning environment lays the foundation for their holistic development." This was the core message of the fifth session in the “Primary Homeroom Teacher Development” training program.
With years of experience accompanying young learners, the Grade 1 teachers brought forward many practical suggestions for creating a positive learning environment.
It can begin with the smallest things ,decorating the classroom to be more welcoming, listening to students with sincerity, giving timely and meaningful praise, setting clear class rules, diversifying teaching methods, and encouraging student participation in every learning and development activity.
Creating a positive learning environment is a journey that requires patience and constant adjustment. However, even small changes can help build a safe, warm space that sparks curiosity and motivation in children. When students feel understood and supported, they are more likely to develop holistically and embrace the world around them with confidence and joy.

In addition to sharing practical strategies, the Grade 1 team also told real-life stories from their experiences as homeroom teachers, stories of challenges, solutions, and growth. The vibrant discussions and thoughtful contributions during the session demonstrated a strong collective commitment to building a positive educational environment where every teacher plays a vital role in creating meaningful experiences for their students.
As the five-part training series “Homeroom Teacher Development” comes to a close, teachers are now ready to open wide the doors to a new school year, filled with energy, excitement, and fresh beginnings.
And we believe that through those very doors, our students will step confidently into a new chapter, one where even greater opportunities and brighter horizons await them.
