"Herologgy" project success: 10G2 students join hands to protect Vietnam's rare primates

09/05/2026

Turning ideas into action, students from class 10G2 have successfully raised over 10 million VND - surpassing their initial goal - to support wildlife conservation. The funds were delivered directly to the Endangered Primate Rescue Center (EPRC), marking a meaningful conclusion to a community project driven by passion and dedication.

Aiming to foster harmony between humanity and nature while raising awareness of biodiversity, 26 students from Class 10G2 (GFS Ecopark Campus) launched the "Herology" community project during the second semester of the 2025-2026 academic year. The initiative directly contributes to safeguarding Vietnam’s endangered primates from the brink of extinction.

The project was conducted in partnership with the Endangered Primate Rescue Center (EPRC), a pivotal NGO dedicated to the rescue, conservation, and rehabilitation of Vietnam’s rare primates. The EPRC currently cares for approximately 220 individuals across 14 species, all of which are listed as endangered and prioritized for protection.

The "Herology" project is carried out in partnership with the Endangered Primate Rescue Center (EPRC).

The journey began in late March when students met with EPRC experts, including Ms. Chu Nguyen Kim Anh (Education and Communications Officer) and Mr. Felix Hausburg (International Volunteer from Germany). Through these exchanges, students gained a comprehensive overview of the ecological role of primates, the heartbreaking reality of illegal trafficking and hunting, and the EPRC’s tireless conservation efforts.

To support the center, the 10G2 team developed a fundraising business plan, selling refreshments and custom-designed hand fans. Alongside these sales, the students organized awareness campaigns to educate their peers on campus about primate protection. Within a short period, the initiative reached a total of over 10 million VND, significantly exceeding its original target.

On the morning of May 9, 2026, the students visited the EPRC at Cuc Phuong National Park (Ninh Binh) to hand over the funds personally to the center’s representatives. During the visit, they learned about the daily operations of the staff and observed rare species in their habitats, such as the Delacour’s Langur, Red-shanked Douc Langur, and Hatinh Langur.

Project Leader Nguyen Duy Thanh Nguyen, representing class 10G2, presents the raised funds to an EPRC representative.
Under the guidance of EPRC staff, students observe rare primate species in their specialized habitats.

"This was our first time leading a wildlife conservation project," said Nguyen Duy Thanh Nguyen, the Project Leader. "We divided ourselves into specialized teams—Communications, Operations, and Finance—based on everyone's strengths. Our biggest challenge was reaching our fundraising target, but fortunately, we succeeded beyond our expectations."

According to Ms. Kieu Ngoc Uyen, the Community Project teacher, "Herology" extends far beyond understanding the urgency of primate protection. Through the project, students mastered teamwork, strategic planning, crisis management, and self-assessment. They are not just applying classroom knowledge to the real world but are evolving into active citizens who contribute meaningfully to society.

"Herology" stands as a testament to the power of experiential learning, where lessons on social responsibility transcend the pages of a textbook. While the project has officially concluded, the seeds of environmental love and biodiversity awareness have taken root in the hearts of every 10G2 student. This journey did not just aid primates in need; it spread a powerful message to the community: every small action, when fueled by sincerity and determination, can create a positive change for our green planet.
